Senior Match Champion - Scott hurtienne
The handicap division of Senior Match was held on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Elks Lodge. 17 bowlers participated in the tournament. Scott Hurtienne was champion! The tournament format consists of 4 games of qualifying with the top bowlers competing in step ladder finals. The top 5 qualifiers were: 1) Scott Hurtienne, 2) Joe Klopf, 3) Terri Behrens, 4) Tim Olszewski 5) Deb Kaboord. Deb Kaboord had to withdraw from the event due to an injury. In the first step ladder match, alternate Pat Sertich lost to 4th place qualifier Tim Olszewski by 5 pins. In the second match, Tim defeated 3rd place qualifier Terri Behrens. In match three, Joe Klopf doubled in the 10th frame to defeat Tim Olszewski by 5 pins. The championship match featured top qualifier Scott Hurtienne against 2nd place qualifier Joe Klopf. Hall of Fame Inductees
We are excited to announce the 2025 Sheboygan Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame inductees. They are: Ben Cleveland, Dan Roerdink (meritorious), Amy Jo Schmit and Patrick Sertich.
Ben Cleveland (Skill – 215 points) – Highlights: Association Championship Singles Champion. Association Championship Doubles Champion. Association Championship All Events Champion. Association Championship Team Champion (6 times). First team All-Star (3 times), Second team All-Star (4 times), 300 Games (21), 800 Series (8).
Dan Roerdink (Meritorious) – Highlights: SABA Youth bowling coach on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s for 22 years. High School bowling head coach for 13 years. Middle School bowling head coach for 7 years. As head coach, Dan’s bowling teams have won 7 State titles. BCAW Bowling Club District 7 president for 8 years. USBC Bronze level coach.
Amy Jo Schmit (Skill – 77 points) – Highlights: Women’s Open Champion. Association Championship Singles Champion, Association Championship Team Champion. 4th highest average in Association in the 2023-2024 season. Second team All-Star (2 times). 300 game and 299 game.
Patrick Sertich (Skill – 157 points) – Highlights: Match Game Champion. Association Championship All Events Champion. Senior Match Champion. Association Championship Senior All Events Champion. Second team All-Star (2 times). Senior All-Star (2 times). 300 Game (17), 800 Series (7).
Congratulations to the newest SABA Hall of Fame members! A Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 6:00 PM at Al & Al’s in Sheboygan. All are welcome to attend.
Hall of fame point totals
In March of 2024, the Sheboygan Area Bowling Association adopted a Hall of Fame point system. Male bowlers need to earn 150 points and women bowlers need to earn 75 points to be eligible for consideration. Points are earned for high scores, tournament accomplishments, all-star teams and high averages. Hall of Fame point totals for SABA men bowlers has been compiled from association records through August 1, 2024. Click here to view the list.
